Install and set up Hype Cart Drawer

Updated Sep 10, 20263 min read

Install Hype Cart Drawer from its Shopify App Store listing, approve the permissions Shopify asks for, then work through the two-step guide on the app's home page. Setup takes a few minutes and needs no theme code.

1. Install the app

  1. Open the listing at https://apps.shopify.com/hype-cart-drawer.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Pick the store you want to install on, if Shopify asks.
  4. Read the permissions screen. It lists exactly what Hype Cart Drawer can read and change on your store, and it is the only place those permissions are granted.
  5. Click Install.

Nothing is charged at install. Hype Cart Drawer is free to install and free to run up to 100 paid orders in a 30-day billing cycle — see How pricing works.

Shopify then opens Hype Cart Drawer inside your admin, at Apps → Hype Cart Drawer.

2. Approve a plan

The first screen you see may be the Plan page. Pick a plan and approve it in Shopify. Approving costs nothing on its own: it authorizes charges up to a ceiling, and no charge is made while your store stays under 100 paid orders in a cycle. See Choose a plan.

3. Work through the setup guide

The app's home page opens with a short setup guide — a two-step checklist with a "1 of 2 tasks complete" counter. It asks for two things:

  1. Enable the app embed. Hype Cart Drawer only runs on your storefront when its Hype: Cart Drawer app embed is turned on in your published theme. The checklist's Enable in theme button opens the theme editor at the right place. Full steps: Enable the app embed.
  2. Create your first campaign, offer or cart. Choose what you want to run and set its rules. The checklist's action button opens the create screen.

Both steps have to be true at once. An offer that is still in draft does not appear on your storefront even when the embed is on, and an active offer does not appear when the embed is off.

You can dismiss the guide once you are done; it does not come back.

4. Tell Hype which theme to check

Go to Settings → Theme and confirm the theme selected there is the theme your customers actually see. Hype uses this setting to check whether the app embed and app blocks are turned on, and the home page's embed status card reports on that theme only. If you build on a duplicate theme and publish it later, come back and re-select it.

Demo themes are a special case: Hype cannot inspect them, and Settings shows This is a DEMO theme, so we can't verify whether Hype is enabled. On a demo theme, check the embed yourself in the theme editor.

5. Check it on your storefront

Open your store in a new tab and confirm the offer appears where you expect. If it does not, work through Nothing shows on my storefront — that one symptom has several separate causes and the checklist covers all of them.

Getting a hand with setup

Every Hype app offers a free onboarding session. On the home page, the card titled Get a free onboarding session with our team has a Book a call button that opens a booking page. You can also open the in-app chat from any page of the app, or the Support page. See Getting help.
